What is a WILI SKIN?
WILI SKIN concept is a unique GUI approach for WILI-S based devices. It allows you to have visually and functionally different web user interfaces on WILI-S devices. We call them WILI SKINS, but don't get caught on that - usually skins only change the look of the user interface. WILI SKIN means much more - you can also extend the functionality of the device!
The skin will change the way your WILI-S acts - it's functional coverage or as we call it - it's functionality "mask". You can have several uploaded WILI SKINS and easily switch between them on the same device.

WILI SKIN also allows to change look and feel of your WILI-S user interface. Fonts, colors, images, overall design of web pages can be easily changed for branding or fun purposes. Skin could be adopted for different target audience as well, i.e. system engineers might prefer expert mode interface, while other users may like to start with configuration wizard. You can also have several different looking skins but with the same functionality.

How WILI SKIN works?
WILI-S system has a multifunctional core:

All core components can be configured from a text configuration file, but usually only a subset of all this functionality is required at once. WILI SKIN will simplify the device configuration with optimized configuration interface - a group of configuration settings (functionality "mask" or subset) for one dedicated use case. It's like putting the stencil on the cumbersome switch panel (which can still be reached from Expert Mode menu).

Besides changing functionality and appearance you can change WILI-S device skin as many times as you want, moreover you can store several skins on a device if the free space criteria is met.

Do It Yourself (D.I.Y.) SKIN
Feel free to make your own SKIN! Using WILI SKIN API documentation and having basic HTML/PHP/CSS knowledge you can design and implement your own SKIN. Our source code is released under BSD style copyright.

FAQ

What WILI SKINS are available now? What are planned in near future?
WILI-Core SKIN: default, built-in skin with minimal functionality. Mainly device status and statistics are available in this skin.
WILI-O SKIN: dedicated to quickly setting up a P2P/P2MP link, while providing additional functionality for antenna alignment, site survey and signal monitoring.
WILI-MESH SKIN: dedicated for quick and simple mesh network setup.
WILI-AP SKIN: Covers access point functionality.

What is WILI-X SKIN functional coverage and what it was designed for?
Each skin released or approved by WILIBOX has a user's guide, which can always be found next to the skin package. These guides contain the complete description of the skin target use case and functional coverage.

Are there any restrictions or limits for the WILI SKIN usage?
From the HW point of view, there is only the restriction - free space available and required for the particular skin on permanent storage (flash disk). All standard WILI SKINS check for available free space.

What is this License about?
All WILI SKINS or D.I.Y. SKINS have BSD style WILIBOX copyright.

Where can I get skins and how do I use them?
Go to the skins section of wilibox.com, download the skin to a local folder and upload it to a WILI-S device, after the applying new skin and rebooting, WILI-S will have a new look. If you need your old WILI-SKIN just switch back using skin switching menu.

Do you want my D.I.Y. SKIN?
Sure! Once you made a great looking skin with the reasonable functionality you can submit it to wilibox.com sample factory where it will be approved and all WILI-S users will be able to view, download and use it. [Note: sample factory is under development now]

Is WILI SKINS universal?
Yes, it is universal and multiplatform. Once created, it can be used on all HW platforms without any modification. Only free space available on permanent storage criteria required for a skin should be met.
